New Rochelle School District Presents Digital Media Summit

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle School District is presenting “Digital Media Summit - The Risks and Benefits for Children Online” from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23 in the Whitney Young Auditorium at New Rochelle High School.

This event is free and open to all parents of students K-12. Mike Gilliam, FiOS1 news anchor, will moderate. Expert panelists include Dr. Jeff Gardere, "America's Psychologist,"  who appears regularly on the "Today Show," CNN, MSNBC, and FOX News; Nancy Friedman, co-founder of KidzVuz, a tween-focused media and entertainment company; City School District of New Rochelle Director of Technology Christine Coleman; and Lauren Barry, a junior at New Rochelle High School who has been a member of Students Against Destructive Decisions for two years.

Topics will include: 

  • How can parents effectively monitor their children's presence online? 
  • What are the best ways to encourage kids to make safe choices? 
  • What apps and social media tools are kids using and how do they actually work?
