Test day will be a half-day of school at New Rochelle High School. Sophomores and juniors will be expected to report to school at 8:10 a.m.

Room assignments for the PSAT administration will be posted throughout the school Tuesday. Students should proceed directly to their assigned classroom so the testing can begin promptly at 8:15 a.m.

They should bring only two No. 2 pencils with erasers, an approved calculator and their school ID. The use of any electronic device is strictly prohibited. Any student observed using an electronic device, such as a cell phone, even during a break, will be dismissed immediately and the scores will be canceled.

Through the collaboration of the College Board and the City School District of New Rochelle, the PSAT will be administered free.

The PSAT/NMSQT is a standardized test that measures reading, writing, language and math skills that students have developed during their years of school, skills that are important for success in college and in future careers.

The PSAT/NMSQT has been redesigned this year to more closely reflect the knowledge, skills and understandings that are essential for college and career readiness and success. Taking the PSAT/NMSQT is a way to preview and practice for the SAT. It tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT in a way appropriate for the students’ grade level.

Juniors who take the PSAT/NMSQT are automatically screened for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
