Officials with the school district held a special event on Thursday to educate students, parents and teachers to help ease the transition from high school to college and subsequently to careers.
Hosted by the district’s Department of Special Alternative Education and the New Rochelle SEPTA, guest speakers included Superintendent Brian Osborne, Yvette Goorevitch and autism awareness advocate Jesse Saperstein – a man who has Asperger's syndrome and provided the keynote address – who noted that “it’s our hardships that will benefit ourselves in the future, as well as helping others in the throes of autism.”
The Transition Fair brought together various businesses, organizations and advocates for people with disabilities, all of which spread positivity and hope for the students and parents moving forward.
“It was another great event hosted by the high school,” said Cass Moss, who attended the event with her son B.J. on Thursday. “It’s just really nice to see that there are other people interested in helping your kids fulfill their potential.”
