Stewart-Cousins learned about the problem during her office’s mobile constituent hours in New Rochelle in April.
“As soon as I learned of this lengthy delay in the delivery of this desperately needed funding for a new boiler, I got to work on behalf of my constituents in New Rochelle and was able to resolve the matter.
"I’m pleased that with my assistance the New Rochelle Day Nursery finally got the grant they were promised, and the children will continue to be warm this winter,” said Stewart-Cousins.
The school learned about the grant in April of 2011, however, a hold was placed on all funding by the State Senate at the time. The nursery school complied with the application process as outlined yet did not receive the money despite several attempts.
The New Rochelle Day Nursery School is a non-profit organization, licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services.
