NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The College of New Rochelle will bestow honorary degrees on Yankees pitcher Mariano Rivera and scholar and higher educational leader Alice Gallin, OSU, during its 107th Commencement on Wednesday, May 28 at 11 a.m. at Radio City Music Hall.

The College will also award approximately 1,000 baccalaureate and master’s degrees to graduates of its four schools. During the event, NBC news anchor and CNR alumna Shiba Russell will conduct a live interview with Rivera on the Radio City stage.

Gallin graduated from CNR in 1942. She went on to earn her master’s degree from Fordham University while teaching at The Ursuline School and New Rochelle High School. During World War II, she worked in Washington, D.C. for the Military Intelligence Service as a research analyst, before making the decision to enter religious life as an Ursuline.

Gallin was appointed Acting Dean of the College in 1956, but returned to teaching until her retirement in 1976.

Rivera is a future Hall of Famer and the career leader in saves (652) while helping the Yankees to five World Series Championships.
