Iona Sophomore's Death Being Investigated

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – An Iona student died Sunday night after a school security guard noticed him acting strangely, police said.

Sophomore William Falk, 20, of New Hampshire, was rushed to Sound Shore Medical Center where he later died, after a school security guard called police when Falk was seen acting strangely around the South Hall dorm, New Rochelle Police Department Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

The Westchester County Medical Examiner’s office is still determining the cause of Falk's death, Schaller said.

The school is holding a community prayer service at 4 p.m. in the Arrigoni Center.

“Our prayers and sympathies are with William’s family and loved ones,” Iona College President Joseph Nyre said in a statement posted on the Iona College website.

Arrangements for Falk’s services are still being prepared, Nyre said.

The school’s counseling center and campus ministry services are available for all members of school’s community.

McGrath Room B, in the school’s LaPenta Student Union is also available for people to receive support.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with William’s family, his friends, and the entire Iona Community,” Nyre added.
