Iona Alumni Raise Over $1.2M At New Rochelle Reunion

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Iona College alumni and friends raised more than $1.2 million in celebration of Iona’s 75th anniversary at its annual reunion weekend May 15-16.

Graduating years ending in 5s and 0s were honored by more than 500 alumni and friends who attended the two-day event.

Weekend highlights included a Golden Gaels luncheon for alumni who graduated 50-plus years ago, a presentation of the Iona Forever campaign, heritage trail tours of campus, a barbecue and reunion Mass.

The weekend concluded with the annual Reunion Gala at Beckwith Pointe on New Rochelle’s Sound Shore. The gala paid tribute to seven alumni for service and achievement: Bartley Livolsi ’70, ’75MBA and Stephen Reitano ’72, ’75MBA, The Brother William B. Cornelia Award for Outstanding Service to Iona College; Monica Judge ’70, The Brother Patrick B. Doyle Award for Distinguished Service to the Alumni Association; Patrick Quinn, The Brother John G. Driscoll Award for Humanitarian Service; and for the Brother Arthur A. Loftus Award for Outstanding Achievement, Domenick Ciaccia ’80, Alfred F. Kelly Jr. ’80, ’81MBA and Angela Pearson ’90, ’96MBA.

“We are so proud of our alumni award recipients for your professional accomplishments, commitment to service and humanitarianism,” said Paul Sutera, senior vice president for advancement and external affairs and emcee for the gala.

All gifts received through June 30 will count in the final reunion totals for alumni in the 5s and 0s classes.

“It is because of your generosity and participation that Iona is able to continue to grow and stay competitive in this ever-changing landscape,” Claire Luppi Mungiguerra ’75, ’78MBA, president of the Iona College Alumni Association board of directors, told alumni and guests who gathered for the event.
