NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - College of New Rochelle Professor Amy Bass won an Emmy Award for her work with NBC at the London Olympics.
Bass, a professor of History and Director of the Honors Program in the School of Arts & Sciences, was part of the team from NBC that won in the category “Outstanding Live Event Turnaround.” The NBC Sports Group collected a total of 11 Emmys, the most of any sports company. The coverage of the London Olympics received five of those awards.
Bass worked in London for NBC as supervisor of the research room, the operation that serves as the information center for each of NBC’s programming sports platforms, the college said. London marked the eighth Olympics that Bass has worked with NBC.
Bass teaches a course entitled “Race, Sport, and Society,” which brings many of her Olympic experiences into the classroom, CNR said.
Bass received a Ph.D. with distinction in history from Stony Brook University and is a graduate of Bates College.
