City School District Of New Rochelle Holds Another Successful Read Aloud

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The City School District of New Rochelle had a successful 13th Annual Jefferson Great Read Aloud, an opportunity to highlight the importance of literacy, Friday, March 27.

Listening to books being read aloud is a tremendous learning tool for children and helps with fluency, especially for those students who are learning English as a second language.

Among many VIP readers present were Board of Education President Lianne Merchant, Board Vice President Rachel Relkin, Board members Chrisanne Petrone and David Lacher, Superintendent Dr. Brian Osborne, ALMS Principal John Barnes, New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, New York State Senator George Latimer and Westchester County Clerk Timothy Idoni. Principal Kim Nieves, Assistant Principal Leann Bruno and Librarian Pam Haas hosted the event.
