The incident happened around 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 5 in Hempstead.
A 45-year-old man was operating a Freightliner box truck traveling northbound in the right lane, when the truck struck a man walking west on the roadway in front of 38 North Franklin St., Nassau County Police said.
The victim suffered multiple trauma injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The operator of the truck was not injured.
The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
The investigation into the crash continues.
