Covid-19: Barber Shop In Area Cited For Possible Exposure

An area health department is warning residents who have visited a popular barbershop they may have been exposed to novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

The Sullivan County Public Health Services said that anyone who visited the Broadway Barber Shop at 456 Broadway in Monticello between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 they may have been exposed to COVID-19.

“The risk is low, as the establishment was in full compliance with Phase II reopening guidelines, and everyone present was wearing masks and following current guidelines and protocols for prevention of COVID-19 transmission,” Public Health Director Nancy McGraw said.

She added that, although the warning was issued out of an abundance of caution, if anyone was there during those hours, and begins to develop symptoms of COVID-19, to 845-292-5910, extension 9, and ask for an infection control nurse.

The business known as The Barbershop located at 462 Broadway in Monticello is unrelated to this advisory and is in full compliance with COVID-19 rules.
