Julie Debrosse, 31, of Elmont, pleaded guilty to second-degree manslaughter, assault and driving while intoxicated in Nassau County Court, District Attorney Madeline Singas said.

Debrosse is expected to receive a term of three and one-third years to 10 years in prison when she is sentenced on Tuesday, May 5.

Singas said that at approximately 3:10 a.m. on Feb. 17 last year, Debrosse was driving north on Meacham Avenue in Elmont when she struck a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier in the driver’s side door as it was turning onto Meachem Avenue off B Street.

The driver of the Cavalier, 65-year-old Michael Saudo, was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

According to Singas, the investigation found that Debrosse was driving 88 mph in a 30 mph zone after driving home from a party in Queens. Police said she had a blood alcohol content of .14 an hour and a half after the crash.

“(Debrosse) drove drunk at nearly 90 miles an hour in a 30 mile per hour zone when she crashed into Michael Saudo’s car, killing him,” Singas said. “This crash was not an accident, it was a preventable criminal act, and we extend our deepest condolences to Mr. Saudo’s family.”
