Massachusetts Man Charged With DUI After Slamming Into Stone Wall In Easton

EASTON, Conn. — A Massachusetts man was charged with drunken driving after slamming his car into a stone wall in front of a home on Rock House Road last month, Easton police said.

A 911 caller reported the crash at  about 7:12 p.m. July 28, police said. 

The driver — Alexander Brumeister, 27, of West Newbury — was not injured but appeared intoxicated, police said. 

He failed three sobriety field test that he was asked to perform and his behavior during booking, where he refused to take a breath test, was erratic, police said. 

Burmeister was charged with driving under the influence, failure to drive right, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana. He paid $40 bond for a Bridgeport court appearance on Aug. 10.

From the police blotter: 

  • On Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 10:34 a.m., a caller reported that while he was walking his dog, two German shepherds from a home on Banks Road ran off the property and one bit his dog in the foot, police said. The animal control officer spoke to the dog owner, who said their new puppy ran off the property to play with caller’s dog, police said. The resident's older shepherd thought the puppy was being hurt and bit the other dog, police said. The animal control officer issued a verbal warning for roaming and unlicensed dogs.
  • During the evening of Thursday, Aug. 3, cars were rummaged through at three residences in town, police said. In all, five motor vehicles were hit, but nothing of value was taken, police said.
