With Assistant Superintendent Carl Albano taking over full-time duties from former interim Superintendent Charles Wilson this month, there has been a district-wide reshuffling as longtime educators take on new challenges.

Beginning on Aug. 1, Albano ascended to permanent Superintendent, with former Eastchester Middle School Principal Ellen McDonnell - who spearheaded the district’s Technology Committee - taking over his role as Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Pupil Personnel Services.

McDonnell’s path mirrors Albano’s, who was also a middle school principal before becoming Assistant Superintendent.

“Dr. McDonnell’s vast experience and knowledge in the field of education has been and will continue to be a true asset to Tuckahoe,” Wilson said before riding off in the sunset. “We are confident that she will embrace her new role with the enthusiasm and strategic approach that have enabled her success to date.”

At the Middle School, former Mamaroneck Elementary School Principal Carrie Amon is coming out of retirement after being unanimously chosen by the Board of Education to assume the same role in Tuckahoe. New York City educator Scott DeBellis will serve as Assistant Principal under Amon, filling the vacancy left when Peter Carlucci accepted the position of principal at the Haldane High School.

“His references from he New York City Public Schools were very strong,” Schools Superintendent Carl Albano said. “We believe his experience with a wide range of building level administrative responsibilities will enable him to make a smooth transition to the assistant principal position in our school district.
