The arrest came after a member of the Ramapo Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team stopped a vehicle in Sloatsburg for a traffic infraction, according to officials.

After further investigation, it was discovered that the driver was in possession of marijuana, hypodermic needles, and several stamp bags that tested positive for heroin, police report.

The defendant, who was not named, was processed on the drug charges and released on bail pending a future court date, according to officials.

Ramapo police responded to 10 motor vehicle accidents on Wednesday: three in Monsey, two in New Hempstead, and one each in Kaser, Airmont, Hillcrest, Spring Valley and Montebello. None of the reported accidents involved injuries.

Officers handled 143 calls on Wednesday, including 17 alarm activations, eight medical emergencies and two fires.

Six arrests were made, including charges for criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, criminal contempt, aggravated harassment, vehicle and traffic offenses and a bench warrant.
