Irwin Kantor, 85, Former West Nyack Resident

WEST NYACK, N.Y. – Irwin Kantor, of North Palm Beach, Fla. and formerly of Montauk, Manhattan and West Nyack, died Thursday, May 19. He was 85.

He was a Korean War veteran. He was an expert on international and domestic tax law, a CPA, MBA and JD, and was former vice president of General Signal Corporation. After retiring from General Signal, he taught tax law and accounting at the graduate business school level. He also pursued his love of boating and fishing in both Florida and Montauk.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara; children, Robin and Peter Kantor; and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Jack and Reid Kantor.

Interment will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Fort Hill Cemetery, Montauk. Shiva calls and minyan will take place from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Kantor home in West Nyack.

Donations in his memory may be made to the Montauk Historical Society.
