Stamford police said the 1940s-era grenade was found by an employee searching through a bag of trash, the Advocate said. His interest was sparked by old newspapers and letters dated in the 1940s in the bag, and found the grenade at the bottom inside an old sock, said the Stamford Advocate.
The Stamford bomb squad will X-ray the grenade to determine whether it live, the story said. If it is, it will be taken to a state facility and blown up, the Stamford Advocate said.
