The fundraising drive was started by Gina Paoli on Wednesday after the "horrible tragedy occurred." The goal is to raise $200,000 to cover medical and other expenses. By mid-afternoon Thursday, nearly $125,000 had already been raised.

"We know that people both near and far are looking to help this family that is dear to so many people, therefore we have set up a GoFundMe Account to off-set medical and other expenses the family will have as they recover and re-build their lives," the page says. "Any donations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your concern, prayers and generosity."

Early Tuesday, Christopher Andrews, 51, is suspected of attacking his family in their rented Mountain Laurel Road home, police said.

When Officer Sean Fenton, a 25-year veteran of the force, arrived at the home in response to a 911 call, Andrews was in the home’s driveway, police said. When Andrews refused an order to stand down and drop the knife he was holding, Fenton fatally shot him, police said.

Andrews’ wife and three children — ages 15, 13 and 12 — were all injured in the attack, which took place at about 6 a.m.

The 50-year-old wife and all three of her children were hospitalized Tuesday. The youngest boy, a sixth-grader at Tomlinson Middle School, was listed in critical condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital, and the mother was listed in stable condition at Bridgeport Hospital on Thursday.

The two older children — a 15-year-old freshman at Warde High School, and a 13-year-old eighth-grader at Tomlinson‚ were released from St. Vincent’s Medical Center and were staying with relatives.

Fairfield’s Detective Bureau is working with the Connecticut State Police and the State’s Attorney’s Office from the Stamford/Norwalk district in the continuing investigation.

Neither Fairfield police nor state police have announced a motive for the attack.

Christopher Andrews was partner at the Manhattan law firm Andrews and Andrews. His brother, Michael Rourke Andrews, died in the terror attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. He worked for Cantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center. Andrews' mother also died in recent weeks.
