Help Brighten Holidays For Canine Military At Park Ridge Animal Hospital

PARK RIDGE, N.J. -- You can help make Christmas special for military working dogs overseas by helping assemble packages for them and their handlers on Saturday at Park Ridge Animal Hospital.

Among those participating in the Tails for Hope event is Gloria Newman of Hackensack, whose son, David, recently returned home after five years and two tours of duty with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Middle East and Japan.

" 'Tis the season for giving, so I am encouraging my family and friends to join me in helping this organization that is near and dear to many of us," she said.

Also involved is Frank Yevchak, a retired police officer from Upper Saddle River who founded Support Our 4 Legged Soldiers (SO4L).

Park Ridge Animal Hospital, owned and operated by Dr. Donna Manderino, is supporting 75 Military Working Dog teams deployed to the Middle East and Korea, as well as several bases in the U.S. where military members are preparing for deployment.

Several items will be packed at the hospital from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday: K9 warming vests, training and reward enhancers and treats, along with t-shirts, chocolate, Twizzlers, and granola bars for the handlers/soldiers.
