Kids Dodge To Help Norwalk Shelter

Hundreds of Norwalk High School students got together Friday night for a shootout, but with strictly good intentions. Nineteen teams with 14 members each competed in the school's second annual Dodgeball Tournament, organized by the student government and the National Honor Society. More than $6,000 was raised for the event's beneficiary, Norwalk's Open Door Shelter. Last year's event benefited the citizens of Haiti after the massive earthquake there. This year, the students decided to help people closer to home, naming their event the "Shelter Shootout."

Team Welsh came out on top, with first place honors. The team's members are Gil Araujo, Bradley Cheng, Karolyn Collins, Teddy Faroni, Ryan Halloran, Dave Klein, Mike McRoy, Cam Prescott, Miles Thomas, Emma Vita, Jon Wilkins and Nick Zuniga.
