An incumbent candidate who lost a Stamford Board of Education seat on a political technicality has been tapped by the state to help reform public schools. Former board member Bob King will serve as a consultant for the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education. "They're working on levels of [education] reform for the state," he said when The Daily Stamford caught up with him.
In the November election, three open seats on the school board were up for grabs. The top three vote-getters were all Democrats. However, because of party representation rules, Democrats could hold only two of the available seats. King, the candidate with the third-highest number of votes, stepped aside for the Republican with the most votes, John Leydon Jr.
King said that experience hasn't stopped him from continuing to fight for quality education for youngsters.
