Immigration has been an engine of economic, cultural and creative vitality for our entire nation.
When families can stay together, come out of the shadows and lend their talents to the common good, everyone benefits.
Comprehensive immigration reform should be a priority for all of us.
That’s why I joined several dozen mayors from around the country in issuing a joint statement this week in support of the president’s executive actions on immigration.
If you take a look at the cities that signed on, you’ll quickly see that New Rochelle is not exactly the heavy hitter in the group, but I am proud to be on the list because: (a) it’s the right thing; and (b) New Rochelle has a large and thriving immigrant community that shapes our city in countless positive ways and that deserves strong advocacy.
