Assemblywoman Shelley Mayer Running For State Senate

Mayer, who represents the 90th Assembly District, announced she is running for state senate in the 37th district to represent the seat vacated by Sen. George Latimer's ascension to Westchester County Executive.

"The values that make our state and nation strong - fairness, inclusion, and opportunity for all - are under attack," Mayer said. "We need leaders ready and willing to stand up and fight back."

If elected, Mayer said she would join the Democratic caucus. Kat Brezler, a White Plains resident, and a Democrat has also announced her candidacy for the 37th Senate District. The Daily News has reported Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano might also run for the seat.

The 37th Senate District covers the cities of New Rochelle, Rye, White Plains, Yonkers and the towns of Bedford, Harrison, Mamaroneck, North Castle, Rye, Eastchester.
