Woman Charged In Counterfeit Money Incident

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A woman was charged in an attempt to use a counterfeit $100 bill at the New Rochelle Walgreens on Thursday evening, New Rochelle Police Department Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

Eva Zamora, 28, of 14425 Roosevelt Ave., Flushing, N.Y., was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, a felony.

Receipts from businesses in the downtown business district were found in Zamora’s purse and police are investigating if fake money was used in other stores.

Criminal Mischief: Two brothers ended up at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx after fooling around and breaking the front glass window and front glass door of Golden Crust Caribbean Bakery overnight Thursday, Schaller said. The 13-year-old was admitted to Jacobi after suffering a deep cut to his arm, and cut to his artery. His 18-year-old brother only had to have his injuries bandaged. No arrests have been made. Police will see if the bakery owner wants to press charges, Schaller said.

Theft From Auto: A $500 chopper saw, three cordless drills valued at $250, a $750 Pex Tool, a $200 Sawzall, and a $250 right arm drill were taken from a 2005 Chevy parked at Home Depot, 55 Weyman Ave., Thursday afternoon.
