Shortly before 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, police responded to a Yonkers hospital after being alerted about a man who was being treated for a gunshot wound to his face.

Upon arrival, the 33-year-old victim alleged that he was sitting in his car near the area of Cottage Place Gardens when an unknown suspect discharged a firearm in his direction, hitting him in the face, according to Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos, though there were no reports of shots fired in the vicinity at the time of the alleged shooting.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was transported to the Westchester Medical Center and is in stable condition. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Politopoulos said that detectives from the Major Case Squad, Narcotics Unit and Crime Scene Unit are actively investigating the incident, canvassing the area for potential witnesses, reviewing surveillance video and processing forensic evidence.
