Two Charged In New Rochelle Home Depot Thefts

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Two men were accused of shoplifting over the past two days at New Rochelle’s Home Depot, 55 Weyman Ave.

Robert Winckelman, 40, of 11 Peach Tree Court, Tivoli, N.Y., was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was accused Tuesday of trying to take an 8,000 BTU air conditioner worth $219 from the store, police Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

Thomas Lorusso, 46, of 249 Robinson Ave., the Bronx, also was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was seen by Home Depot store security trying to take $21.95 worth of items from the store, Schaller said.

The following item also was reported by New Rochelle police:

Burglary: Construction tools worth $700 were taken from a residence at 33 First St. between Wednesday, June 27, and Wednesday, July 4. The owner said $450 in assorted tools, a $150 circular saw and a $100 jigsaw were missing.
