Officials confirmed that police are searching for Leroi Bouche, 27, who was arrested in Mount Vernon in 2009 in connection to the murder of Shomari Knox, whose criminal history also includes drug possession charges.
As a result of the manhunt, Mount Vernon High School and Traphagen Elementary School in Mount Vernon, Pelham schools and two schools in the Tuckahoe School District were placed on lockout Friday.
The hit-and-run took place on East Lincoln Avenue and Station Place at approximately 7:30 a.m. The investigator intended to interview Bouche about a pending case when the suspect sped off, striking the investigator, who is being treated for non-life threatening injuries at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, police said.
Bouche hit several parked cars before abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot, police said. He is being described as a 6-foot-3-inch African American with an orange hat, blue jeans and yellow shirt. It is uncertain if he is armed, but he is described as “dangerous.”
Helicopters, police dogs and several law enforcement agencies are being utilized in the search.
