NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Just days after the New Rochelle Police Department issued its annual statement , citing historically low crime rates, a group of teenagers were arrested early Sunday morning after a downtown crime spree.

The six teenagers were accused of assaulting and robbing their victims in the business district over a span of approximately an hour before they were apprehended by police with the help of Big Brother .

According to police, the department’s series of surveillance cameras that have been strategically located throughout the city played a key role in apprehending the suspects.

The assaults began at approximately 10 p.m., Saturday, on Union Avenue, where the six teens reportedly attempted to rob a man who would later be treated for a head wound. The group then took off toward Center Avenue, where they unsuccessfully attempted a second robbery near the intersection at Huguenot Street.

Rayner Felice, Eduardo Mangana, both 18, 17-year old Manual Aguilar and Osmari Rodriguez and Jonathan Jeanty, each 16-years-old, were arrested and each faces a pair of second-degree robbery, attempted robbery and assault charges. A sixth, unidentified suspect, remains on the loose.

The suspects were arraigned in City Court on Monday.
