At approximately 2:45 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, an unauthorized man on the tracks was struck by a northbound train operating on the Harlem Line. Train service was temporarily delayed by as much as a half hour following the incident.

On Thursday, that man was identified by police as 34-year-old Scarsdale resident Matthew Steves.

According to an MTA spokesperson, it does not appear as though any criminality was involved in the incident, nor does it appear to have been an accident. A woman traveling on the train that struck the man reported she saw him jump in front of the train.
