Shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, officers were dispatched to a Warburton Avenue apartment building, where a 20-year-old city resident reported that she had been robbed at knife point by three men.

According to Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos, Jade Jackson alleged that she was accosted in the stairwell of the building by three men she knew, who brandished a large knife, searched her person and removed $200 and an iPhone before fleeing. Jackson was not injured during the incident and was able to call for help.

Patrol officers from the Fourth Precinct immediately responded, established a perimeter and began a search for the suspects, Politopoulos said. All three suspects would be located at the scene, identified and placed into custody. A large knife was also recovered during the search.

Ultimately, detectives arrested Yonkers residents Christopher Brown, 18, Orlando Ivey, 19 and Travis Lyndon Seivright, 21, who were all charged with first-degree robbery, based on sworn statements provided by Jackson and another witness, 19-year-old Nannette Thompson, also from Yonkers.

Politopoulos said that a further investigation by detectives in the Major Case Unit and members of the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office, revealed that both Jackson and Thompson knowingly provided false information with certain elements of their statements. Both were subsequently arrested on charges of falsely reporting an incident and making a punishable false written statement. Thompson was also charged with false personation for providing false information about her identity.

Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino’s Office is now managing the prosecution of the case, Politopoulos added.

“The Yonkers Police Department vigorously investigates all allegations of criminal behavior and will arrest those individuals who are alleged to commit criminal acts when reasonable cause to believe exists. Additionally, those who would provide sworn false information are subject to the same consequences as provided by the Penal Law and Criminal Procedural Law.”
