Police Investigating Overnight Car Fire In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle police and fire officials are investigating an overnight car fire that has been deemed “suspicious.”

A suspect was caught on surveillance  cameras in New Rochelle before the car was set aflame.

Shortly before midnight on Thursday night, a vehicle in the Church-Division Parking Garage went up in flames, damaging several other cars in the lot.

Police confirmed that the incident was caught on surveillance cameras, where a figure is seen approaching the vehicle before the fire sparked. The suspect has been described as a Hispanic male with curly hair in black pants and a white shirt.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing a loud bang and seeing a bright flash prior to the fire. No injuries have been reported.
