Police Investigate Overnight Stabbing In Westchester

YONKERS, N.Y. - Detectives in Yonkers are asking for the community’s assistance as they continue their investigation into an overnight stabbing.

Shortly before midnight on Tuesday, April 11, police were dispatched to a mixed-use Riverdale Avenue building, where there was a reported stabbing incident, Yonkers Police Sgt. Dean Politopoulos said on Wednesday.

According to Politopoulos, a 25-year-old Yonkers resident was on the first-floor hallway in the building with some friends when he was attacked by an unknown suspect that stabbed him with a small knife and fled the scene. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his arm and back and was transported to Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx, where he is in stable condition.

Police described the suspect as an approximately 6-foot tall black male in his 30s with a thin build.

Detectives from the Major Case Squad and Crime Scene Unit are currently investigating the incident, speaking with witnesses and local residents, canvassing the area for surveillance video and processing forensic evidence.
