MAMARONECK, N.Y. — The southbound side of the Hutchinson River Parkway was expected to be closed until at least noon on Wednesday after a tractor-trailer crashed into the Weaver Street Bridge.

According to Lt. Scott Sullivan of the Westchester County Police, the truck received significant damage and was difficult to extract from the bridge. A bridge inspector was called to the scene and reported that the bridge was not damaged.

Initially, just the right lane of the southbound side of the Hutch was closed after the  7:24 a.m. accident, but around 9 a.m. both lanes were shut down.

Traffic was being diverted off the Hutch onto Mamaroneck Avenue, and local city and town police were notified to expect traffic in their communities.

For your information The Weaver St. bridge over the "Hutch" is not in Mamaroneck. Weaver St. at this point straddles both New Rochelle and Scarsdale. This is in regards to the truck crash.
