New Rochelle Woman Charged With Injuring Officer

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A New Rochelle woman was charged with injuring an officer Saturday, said New Rochelle Police Capt. Joseph Schaller.

Fahtimah Vieira, 20, of 54 Church St., was charged after she struggled and attacked an officer who responded to a call from a neighbor reporting a loud crashing sound and an argument at a Sickles Avenue apartment, Schaller said.

Vieira was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, resisting arrest, a misdemeanor, and obstructing governmental administration.

Schaller said the officer’s left elbow, forearm and right wrist were injured. The officer was treated at the hospital and relieved of duty.

Robbery: A 27-year-old man reported being robbed of $250 Saturday at Union Avenue and Fourth Street. The victim was walking in the area when a man approached him and demanded his money. The man then went through the victim’s pocket and ran off. The victim went home and called police.  

Burglary: Power tools valued at $1,000 were taken overnight Thursday from the office of Shiloh Kress Senior Housing at 29 Kress Ave.. A window was found broken. The building is under construction.

Burglary: Three gold chains were taken from a Pelham Road apartment Friday. The resident left the apartment at 673 Pelham Road at 8 a.m., and found the items missing from a dresser drawer upon returning at 6 p.m.

Burglary: Five xbox games and an xbox game console were taken overnight Friday from a Fifth Avenue home. The items were valued at less than $1,200. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.
