NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle police arrested a 21-year-old woman on charges of driving under the influence of marijuana and numerous other charges after stopping her for speeding, lohud.com reported.
The incident began at about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday when a New Rochelle police sergeant was looking for a suspect in an attempted car theft, Detective Capt. Joseph Schallere said.
The sergeant saw the suspect speed by at a high rate of speed on Webster Avenue near the Hutchinson River Parkway, Schaller said. When the sergeant activated his lights and siren, she sped off, police said.
She was caught a short time later by police, who found marijuana in her car, police said. She was charged with unlawfully fleeing, reckless driving, obstruction of governmental administration, unlawful possession of marijuana, and operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs.
