NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A taxi driver was pistol-whipped and robbed Saturday morning by a passenger he picked up for a ride from New Rochelle to the Bronx, police said.
The suspect took the driver’s Bluetooth cell phone and money after pointing a small handgun at him when the cab was at Beechwood and Rockdale avenues, Capt. Joseph Schaller said.
The driver was sent to Sound Shore Medical Center with cuts on his forehead and nose.
He called police when he was back at his company’s headquarters and told them the suspect ran up Rockdale Avenue.
