New Rochelle PD Assists In Rescue Of Vessel With 11 On Board

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - Local and county police rescued boaters in distress in Mamaroneck Harbor on Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the harbor, where a vessel with 11 people on board was taking on water.

Marine units from the Westchester County Police and New Rochelle Police Department responded, where several of the boaters required treatment for injuries and maladies that may have included hypothermia.

The boaters were reportedly being transported to the Rye Marina to meet with paramedics. The cause of the incident and condition of the crew and first responders was not immediately clear.
