NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A New Rochelle man was charged with misdemeanor petit larceny after, police say, he took a gym-goers keys from her purse Wednesday night and stole items from her Hyundai.

The woman had left her purse on a treadmill when she moved to another machine, New Rochelle Police Department Sergeant Robert Torr said.

Torr said video surveillance from the gym shows Chad Griffin, 33, of 142 Beechwood Ave., taking the keys from the victim’s purse and leaving the gym at New Roc City Planet Fitness.

Torr said a driver’s license, two credit cards and two debit cards were taken from the woman’s vehicle, which was parked in the New Roc City garage at 33 Lecount Place.

Griffin was arrested after gym employees recognized him and called New Rochelle Police when he checked into the facility Thursday.
