New Rochelle Man Charged With DWI

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A New Rochelle driver allegedly rear-ended a parked BMW Sunday and then parked his Honda in front of the BMW, New Rochelle Police Sgt. Myron Joseph said.

Nester Diaz, 21, of 15 Badeau Place, New Rochelle, was charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Police said the incident occurred at Mount Etna Place and Pelham Road. Diaz had a passenger in his car. The back of the BMW was damaged, Joseph said.

The following items also were reported by New Rochelle Police:

  • Copper was broken off and removed from the basement of an 11 Jones St. home Thursday night or Friday morning, New Rochelle Police Capt. Joseph Schaller said. The home is currently under repairs after a fire. The owner will be talking with contractors who are helping to restore the structure.
  • Police said $6 was taken from a 2007 Ford parked at 170 Elm St. Friday evening. The theft was discovered when the driver returned after going into a store. The vehicle’s passenger side window was open. 
  • Raul Santos, 67, of 2 N. Eighth Ave., Mount Vernon, was charged with petit larceny after he allegedly tried to take two Milwaukee drill bits totaling $15 Thursday from the Home Depot at 55 Weyman Ave. Santos allegedly put the items in a bag and tried to leave the store when he was caught by store security, police said.
