New Rochelle Man Charged In Car Break-In

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A New Rochelle man was charged with stealing a global positioning system device from another resident’s van police said.

Jack Castelin, 44, of 137 Chauncey Ave., was charged with taking the GPS device from the 44 year-old resident’s 2004 Honda Odyssey parked at his 56 Hillside Ave. home, New Rochelle Police Department Captain Joseph Schaller said.

Castelin ran when the resident came out of his house and confronted him after he saw him in his van, police said. He was then arrested by police officer Paul Erasmo. There were no signs of forced entry.

Castelin was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny, both misdemeanors.

Theft From Auto: A Bose house radio was taken from the trunk of a 59-year-old New Rochelle woman’s 2010 Lexus Wednesday night or Thursday morning. The vehicle was parked in the parking garage of 463 Pelham Road.
