Police confirmed that Thursday night’s explosion, when a car went up in flames and damaged several vehicles in the garage, was not arson, despite being deemed “suspicious” initially.

Witnesses in the area reported hearing a loud bang and seeing a bright flash prior to the fire. There were no injuries reported.

The fire was captured by surveillance cameras, and a figure could be seen approaching the vehicle before the fire sparked. A manhunt that included the city’s K-9 unit and a Westchester County police helicopter ensued, but no suspect was ever apprehended.

New Rochelle news outlet Talk of the Sound obtained the surveillance video from the police, which can be seen above.
