NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. –  New Rochelle Uniformed Firefighter Association President Byron Gray was honored Thursday for his series of videos promoting fire safety.

Gray 's videos, posted to You Tube, were recognized with Liberty Mutual Insurance’s Firemark community service award.

Gray, a 28 year veteran of the department, was honored for his fire safety video series he produced earlier this year.

Gray said he did the series to point out the need for better fire protection.

One shows how fast an apartment can catch fire, and the dangers firefighters face on the job.

The Firemark Award, established by Liberty Mutual in 1986, recognizes firefighters for their impact on their communities.

Dan Ferrara, of Liberty Mutual said he was proud to be able to present the award to Gray.

“Anything we do to bring about community is great,” he said.

Liberty has been giving out the award for 20 years.
