New Rochelle Fire Department Holds Promotion and Awards Ceremony

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The New Rochelle Fire Department recognized its own recently at the annual Promotion and Awards Ceremony at City Hall’s Council Chambers.

Thirty-two firefighters were honored with Life Saving and Unit Citation awards, according to a statement from the department.

The Rev. Michael Challinor of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church also was appointed and sworn in as the department’s chaplain, according to the statement, which added that Challinor was honored alongside the department’s firefighters.

Additionally, several firefighters received promotions, including Capt. Philip Cicchiello and lieutenants Brian Bracken, Eric Auletta and Andrew Burpee.

Five new firefighters also were sworn in. They include Michael Amori, James DiMaggio, Liam Madden, Justin Moxey and Christopher Tortorella.

“Today, we recognize members who demonstrated meritorious acts of bravery throughout the year,” said Chief Louis DiMelgio.

DiMelgio was joined on stage by Deputy Fire Chief Scott Bradley, Mayor Noam Bramson and City Manager Church Strome.
