New Rochelle Fire Department Celebrates Some Of Its Own

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Some of New Rochelle’s bravest and boldest were celebrated at City Hall on Monday, Oct. 20, at the the annual Fire Department Awards and Promotion Ceremony.

Liberty Mutual representatives Sales Representative Kathryn Ilardi, le and Senior Branch Manager Genet Hardesty presented the Liberty Mutual Fire Mark Award to Chief Lou DiMeglio for the New Rochelle Fire Department and Firefighter Daniel Thompson.

In the middle of Fire Prevention Month, members of the New Rochelle Fire Department joined city officials to swear in promoted and probationary firefighters, and to present awards in recognition of the department’s bravery and courage.

The guest of honor this year was Firefighter Daniel Thompson, who received the Liberty Mutual Insurance Fire Mark Award for his lifesaving rescue at a Pelham Road fire earlier this year. He also earned a Class 2 Citation for his accomplishments within the department.

Additionally, the New Rochelle Fire Department recognized its new Deputy Chief, Scott Bradley, Capt. Paul Alfano and Lt. Ricardo Ramos. Louis Bongo, Neil Brown, John Cestone, John Cioffoletti, Joseph Dizenzo and Frank Vallelonga were also welcomed into the ranks of probationary firefighters.

Other honorees were the following:

  • Life Saving Award: Capt. Andrew Sandor, Firefighters Michael Bartholomew and Jack Williams (Company E-23 on March 2, 2013); Lt. Robert Ciotti, Firefighters Michael Young, Edgar Melgarejo and Durette Tyler (E-21 on March 7, 2013); Lt. Anthony Margiotti, Firefighters Stephen Schmitt, Kevin Leak and Ronald Fraioli (E-21 on March 10, 2013); Lt. Brian O’Keefe, Firefighters Rasaun Young, Nicholas Triscari and Peter Celestino (E-21 on Aug. 19, 2013); Lt. Anthony Margiotti, Firefighters Stephen Schmitt, Robert Cacase and Jack Williams (E-22 on Sept. 26, 2013); Lt. Robert Ciotti, Firefighters Thomas Hensler and Gary Bruzzese Jr. (E-21 on Dec. 27, 2013). Lt. Joseph Pierotti, Raul Perez, Firefighters Stephen Schmitt and Hugo Pinilla (E-22 and E-24 on Feb. 1, 2014); Lt. Mark McLean, Firefighters John Robbins and Anthony Petrone (E-24 on Feb. 9, 2014); Lt.
