Jones was identified in a lineup and placed under arrest.  He faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison. Sentencing will be on Tuesday, Nov. 18.

Jones is charged with:

• One count of kidnapping in the second degree

• Two counts of robbery in the first degree,

• Two counts of robbery in the second degree, relating to the abduction and robbery of Ricardo Panton.

On Tuesday, April 9, 2013, shortly after midnight, Panton drove two friends to a market on  W. 1st Street, in Mount Vernon, the district attorney's office said in a statement. He parked the car in front of the store and remained in the car while his friends went inside the store, the report said. As he waited, he was approached by two males, one of whom was later identified as Jones and the other a male who was not apprehended, the statement said.

Jones and the male displayed a firearm and pointed it at Panton before Jones got into the front passenger seat and the other male got into the back, said the report. The defendant told the victim that he must have money since he drove a Lexus, according to the statement.

They ordered the victim, at gunpoint, to go to various JP Morgan Chase Bank ATMs and take out money out and the victim, upon the orders of the defendant and the unapprehended male, drove to the various locations throughout Mount Vernon and New Rochelle, according to the statement.

Although he had just been paid, the funds would not clear until the morning. At that point, Jones and the unapprehended individual tied up the victim and put him in the trunk of the car, according to the statement. They drove around with him for a period of time, and took him out, renewing their orders for him to withdraw money from the ATMs, according to the statement.

The victim was able to access the funds and gave the defendants $1,000, and, after eight hours of being held prisoner, Jones released Panton taking his cell phone and social security card, according to the statement.
