Man Beat Alleged Drunk Driver After Mohegan Lake Crash, Police Say

MOHEGAN LAKE, N.Y. -- New York State Police charged a Cortlandt man with driving while intoxicated after he crashed into another vehicle in Mohegan Lake and attempted to flee the scene on March 14, according to officials. 

State Police charged a man with DWI following an accident. The other driver in the accident was charged with assault stemming from an alleged altercation that followed the accident.

Alvin T. Banks, 52, allegedly backed into another vehicle and attempted to flee. Glenn Gennodie, 45, of Brewster, allegedly got into a physical altercation with Banks to keep him from leaving the scene, police said. 

Troopers suspected Banks of being intoxicated and he was transported to Hudson Valley Hospital with a head injury and a broken jaw, police said. 

Banks was charged with driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident. Gennoodie was charged with second-degree assault for the altercation at the accident. He was also charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief for allegedly throwing furniture in the barracks interview room, police said. 

Gennoodie was remanded to Westchester County Jail while Banks is scheduled to appear in court on March 23, police said.
