A 31-year-old Westchester woman was killed after being struck by a car while standing outside a car and checking on a child who was in the backseat on I-95 in Bridgeport, Conn., late Saturday night.
The 2005 Acura TSX was stopped, straddling the travel lane and the shoulder on the southbound on-ramp for Exit 27 just before 11 p.m. when a 19-year-old Bridgeport woman tried to drive past Enma E. Torres of Mamaroneck, before hitting her, state police said.
Torres was pronounced dead at Bridgeport Hospital.
Four others in the car were not injured. The teen driver who hit Torres, who was driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus, also did not suffer injuries. The four in the car were two 7-year-old girls, an 11-year-old and 30-year-old woman, with two from Bridgeport and the other two from Ansonia, Conn.
No charges have been filed. The case is under active investigation.
