NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A Mamaroneck resident was able to escape a robbery attempt by a man who grabbed his wrist and demanded money at the New Rochelle station around noon Saturday, New Rochelle Police Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

The would-be robber, described as tall with a thin build, ran southbound over the draw bridge next to the station Schaller said.

• A 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle valued at $5,300 was taken from the front lawn of 7 Pinebrook Blvd. on Sunday, Schaller said.

A 2006 Honda motorcycle was recovered in a vacant lot across from new construction on Brook Street after residents of 12 Lincoln Ave. chased the men who were taking it and yelled at them to give it back over the weekend. The men dropped the bike and ran up Lincoln Avenue.

• The theft of $68 from the cash register at Sun Hing Chinese restaurant was reported. The glass on the front door of the restaurant was broken.

• Gold rings, necklaces and watches were taken from the first floor a multi-family house sometime between last Monday morning and Sunday. Slash marks were found on a window screen leading to the bedroom. The residents noticed the items missing when they returned to the home, which they use only on weekends.
