Hostage Negotiators Respond To Distressed Man In New Rochelle Apartment

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - A scary scene unfolded in New Roc City on Thursday morning, when a heavy police presence required hostage negotiators to help a distressed man in a New Rochelle apartment.

Shortly after 9 a.m., multiple police units responded to the apartment building at 5 Anderson St. to assist a man who reportedly was emotionally disturbed. Several police units were seen lining surrounding streets as they attempted to talk the man down from an unconfirmed situation.

Police had the scene clear at 11 a.m. after safely taking the man into custody without incident. According to one neighbor who was on the scene, they could hear shouting near the building, though it was unclear whether it was the man or police.
