Sonia Nunez, who abruptly resigned from her position at Columbus Elementary School last year, has been sentenced to three years probation after pleading guilty to petit larceny in May last year. She must also pay an undisclosed fine.

According to multiple reports, student activity money was mishandled and unaccounted for, which led investigators in Nunez’s direction. She was placed on leave by the school district on May 19 last year before she submitted her letter of resignation with several weeks left in the school year.
